I don't know, that's a strong signal. Apple has a secure handle on retail prices by retailers, I'll guarantee. Of course the bears will say they're reducing prices because they're not selling... which is not the Apple I know.

A June launch would mean that Apple would need at least 40 million 28nm basebands in the September quarter. There is just no way to square that with Qualcomm's guidance for the 28nm ramp and their overall financial guidance for both the June and September quarters.

and it is nearly a 100% probability that Qualcomm will be supplying a 28nm baseband for the iPhone 5 considering their guidance for total LTE shipments exiting 2012.

Qualcomm is who I follow most closely but I dont think we are seeing any signs of a early summer ramp from any of Apple's other suppliers either.

I beg to differ. I think all the carrier has a volume agreement of how many Iphone they will sell and hence periodically, we see price cut to stimulate sales if they cannot meet those target. This is just a side effect of the fast rollout strategy of 4S and Ipad 3. We see a very strong initial sales and then lumpy quarter afterward since all the initial upgrade demand are met and no new market to compensate for weaker sale in previously launched market. I think the 64k question is whether ATT can meet the same 4.3 m 4S activation this Q as in 1Q. I think that is the focus on F3Q earning. It is very hard to see a QoQ jump of Iphone sales in US (International may do better especially in China.. But by how much is the key question..)

AT&T said it activated 4.3 million of the smartphones, up from the 3.6 million activated in the first quarter of 2011. But that’s down significantly from the 7.6 million activated by the wireless carrier in the fourth quarter, after the iPhone 4S model launched.
