Participation dropped more than employment is one answer. True. It must be emphasized that small drops in participation are significant. I suspect that they include workers who were forced into retirement who would otherwise continue to work. Given the dismal retirement prepration of most workers, I have to assume that some percentage of this group is presently looking for work. Shouldn't they be deemed unenmployed? I am really impressed by the more-than-one-year unemployed figures, as compared to pre-2008 rates.
