Materanal devotion is stirring and inspiring, even magnificant. But from the standpoint of philosophical materialism underlying Darwinian evolution, it's NOT magnificant. It's just an evolved trait that promotes survival of the species and passing on of genetic material to the next generation. There is no nobility, no magnificance in Darwinian evolution. It's good that you unintentionally provided the opportunity to make that point.
