yes, i have a long time friend (like 40 years) that lives on a boat in the bay between Sausalito and the Tiburon peninsula. he's been out there for 27 years. no mortgage, no property taxes, etc --- but like you say: NO WOMEN EITHER. but he does make a little money. he plays guitar with his dog at the ferry landing in Sausalito. very well known in town and by the tourist - here is a vid taken by a tourist and posted on youtube: ps... toss him a few bucks if you run into him ;)
