I took your post at the most obvious, without any adornments. I prefer to let people clarify their own posts until they say exactly what they meant to say. Thanks for making it clear that you are going to use a special launcher rather than simply human muscle. If I had assumed you meant a special launcher you could have asked "why would you think 'throwing' wouldn't involve a baseball pitcher."

Yes, ablative materials could be used. And it is even possible you could hit Canada...some of the time. And who would own and profit from your precious moon rocks, then?
