And we are not going to give people opiates and send them on their way. That is flippant.

The problems of the old are real and need empathy. We are doing exactly the right thing to help them. The lady down the street has worked hard her whole life. Her husband left her for a younger woman and she is on her own and has needed two hip replacements due to arthritis and osteoporosis. And she has problems with her kids (adopted) through no fault of her own. Her life its very tough, but she marches on.

She deserves and needs societies help.

She still works at 70, but she barely makes it (and she is scared a lot) and if not for the medicare she could not have afforded the hip replacements and kept working. Then what? I spent a lifetime planning for the "Then What" situations.

Two others have psychological problems. Not their fault, society has beat down women forever.

Your world is too cruel for me and quite right wing. I will always resist harshness. Not necessary and not good.
