"cite the source of the quote"

Paul L. Maier wrote in 1998 that "most recent biographies of Herod the Great deny it entirely" and that most modern Theologians consider the account as "legend and not historical".

He wrote this in "Herod and the Infants of Bethlehem” which was a chapter in the book Chronos, Kairos, Christos II, Mercer University Press (1998) --a collection of Christian essays put together by Jerry Vardaman to honor the memory of noted Christian teacher and author, Ray Summers. All the Christian sources likewise point to this as the quote from the noted Christian Paul Maier--with no denials that I was able to find. Therefore, I take it as beyond reasonable to trust that such a book and such a chapter and such an assertion exists!

I do not own this book but all references to that quote on the internet trace to the same source which may be purchased here amongst other places:

I hope Pope Greg is not not going to insist that all people quoted now be accessible in an online free library book edition to go to for Pope "it is all about ME's" verification! That would be RICH, indeed! A fellow "educated" on Fairy Tales and myth insisting on PERFECT tracing of sources!!
