Maybe not right away but it will catch up with you.

It takes governments to keep a scam going for decades.

Do you think Madoff could have stolen 1/10 of what he did if people didn't assume the regulators were protecting them?

Markets have always been crooked.

The world runs on "unrighteous mammon," as the phrase goes. What makes markets, and governments, dangerous is what the people who run them are capable of. They are certain to do any conceivable evil thing. You just can't know when they'll do it.
