It is pretty obvious that TARP saved the economy from "falling off a cliff". it has been shown that the "stimulus" did more damage than good.

In fact, we know that fiscal stimulus (AKA spewing money) has been tried numerous times and not once has it ever worked. And even Keynes himself would not have considered this never ending wasteful spending as being consistent with his view.

The Euros chose the austerity route and are now in Depression.
Wait until they choose the "print more money" route. Goodbye Euro zone!
