Romney says sorry for ‘hijinks’ after high school bullying story
May 10, 2012, 12:28 PM

Mitt Romney said on Thursday that he’s sorry for some “hijinks and pranks” he took part in during his high school years after a newspaper story said he bullied a student who later came out as gay.

The Washington Post story cited classmates of Romney’s who recalled Romney repeatedly clipping the bleached-blond hair of a student they’d tackled and pinned to the ground at their Michigan high school. The student, who was presumed by some to be gay, screamed for help.

A Romney spokeswoman quoted in the story said Romney had no memory of participating in the incident described.

On Thursday, Romney expanded on his high school years in a radio interview. The presumptive Republican nominee maintained he didn’t remember the incident, but said: “I certainly don’t believe that I thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case.”

The story appeared a day after President Barack Obama endorsed same-sex marriage. Romney backs a constitutional amendment prohibiting it.

John Lauber, the student whose hair Romney allegedly cut, died in 2004, according to the Post story.

In the radio interview, Romney said: “I participated in a lot of hijinks and pranks during high school and some might have gone too far and for that, I apologize.”

Bentway,
Women who took emergency contraceptive pills after unprotected sex were up to 20 times more likely to get pregnant compared with those who had IUD inserted
That's "news"?

ANYTHING is better than the morning-after pill.
