". . . . .The biggest issue is how much k-cup usage will be siphoned off when their patents expire. I think a lot - as folks don't care about the container - they care about the taste of the coffee inside.

I'm not a coffee drinker, so I could be completely wrong about why folks by these things. Feel free to set me straight."

I've been drinking coffee since I was 12. The flavor of the coffee in the K-cups isn't great but they are very convenient and there is little clean up. Great for making a cup to drink in the way to work. No need to make a whole pot and ensure its drained out before you go home.

When the K-Cup patent expires, SBUX is supposed to launch their own machine which I predict will initially result in an increase of sales for SBUX but as Christmas next year approaches, lots of folks will want the Keurig style machines and the products to go in them will be cheaper with GMCR still in the game. The die hard SBUX fans will buy their SBUX machines and I predict that SBUX store sales will drop - raising costs and keeping GMCR competitive.
