I took it that Joe Klein was trying to separate the two things I was trying to separate--his actions as a 17 year old kid and his actions today. I completely agree that his handling of it tells us much about Romney, none of which is new. It simply draws the lesson deeper in the sand.
I wouldn't condemn Romney for what he did as a 17-year-old, if he were willing to take responsibility for it now, as an adult.

To me, the actions of the two men as adults, in dealing with these stories from their youth, speak eloquently about the difference between them.
