Ken Burns' *L&C* was shown here on Public TV two or three weeks ago. Something of a disappointment. His *CIVIL WAR* was superb, and perhaps he'll never do anything as good. He had access to a zillion photographs, some wonderfully soulful music, and the rich Southern voice and deep knowledge of the eminent historian and writer, Shelby Foote.
