What we never have is a serious debate about just how big government should be? Part of the reason is that the right wing has always muddied the waters by wanting everything privatized, so their buddies could sponge off the people; and spend all the money so there is never anything for the poor.

Because so few on the right wing celebrate education, they don't know their history and how bad things were under kings and queens and dicators and feudal lords, and for sefrs and peasants, in every century before the last one.

Certain things are simply best done by government like jails and laws. As far as size goes, look at which countries have the happiest and healthiest people.

In Denmark, Sweden, and most of Europe people are in better shape than we are, relatively speaking .

Large government is both necessary and works. Our state government was a beacon of austerity and good works.

You know better than most how much society would gain if we ensured every kid went to pre schooll and got a good meal.

Put those trillions Bush spent on dumb wars and money for his elite friends, into education and we would be top dog in the world by far. And much more secure! We could have easily checked China with that many more brains
