While I strongly favor privatizing as much stuff as possible to keep government out of it, prisons are one area that absolutely should NOT be privatized. I'd just as soon be in a dungeon in Peru as a Louisiana parish jail. Of course, Louisiana jails are full of Louisiana politicians, so I guess you'd be in pretty good company. I lived there for a couple of years and it is just the corruption in small-town Louisiana is as bad as in the Obama White House.
