ed, actually cpq does their own SMT mfg'ing..So, most of the electonics are all fareast origin..
Cpq buys through an IPO in Japan and I bet Singapore and Houston make millions in quantities of boards.
The components are signifcant cost savings.

The motherbd on the 799 pc is a taiwan mfg'er FIC.
chip is cyrx and assy'ed in Austin for this hemisphere.

ed, Samsung was planning on starting the Asuton plant to feed dell and cpq..
if the WON doesn't reverse some, I see them changing this..
but by next yr. this won ton is forgotten.
the won reverse almost 40% of it's run up yesterday.
