he clearly has no idea what the true definition is. However, it hits pretty close to home with progressives in general.

Many fascist leaders had previously been associated with leftist movements or governments. Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini previously was a Socialist and later a syndicalist, and chief editor of Italian Socialist Party's newspaper Avanti! before becoming an Italian Fascist. Japanese fascist Ikki Kita was previously a Marxist. British fascist Oswald Moseley was previously a member of the British Labour Party.

While fascism opposes Bolshevism, both Bolshevism and fascism have been noted to hold significant ideological similarities: both advocate a revolutionary ideology, both believe in the necessity of a vanguard elite, both have disdain for bourgeois values, and both had totalitarian ambitions.
