i too will be exiting stage left. its not that i dont like the long term prospects, its just i dont like the short term ones. i figure i can use this as a wash sale and deduct the losses from pervious gains. at least s3 will be useful in sotfening next years tax bill. and like most have been pointing out, it will probably be stuck here for a while. its not much to say that in 30 days, ill be able to get back in at the same price.

happy trading and turkey day to all

It amazes me that there was no conference call with the release of the restatement. When are we going to hear something? Management continues to leave us in teh dark. After something of this magnitude, any other company would call a conference. I want to know:

1) How these accounting irregularities occurred
2) What has been done to ensure they don't occur again
3) What is the status of the lawsuits (like who is defending them, what is their position, etc.)
4) What is happening with the Fab IPO, Faroujda,a nd other new products. What is their strategy for 1998?

I sold part of my position today to buy something else I was really interested in, but still am holding a few thousand shares.

I agree with you Jan,

I don't think there is too much downside potential left for S3. It seems like all semi-conductor stocks have been hit very hard by the downfall of Asian markets. I believe S3 will bounce back nicely after the Asian market panic settles down. However, it will probably be a while before that happens.

I'm going to re-enter S3 at around $5.50 to $6. I predicted about two months back that they would probably bottom out at around $6. I figure I wouldn't lose too much if I dove in between 5.50 and 6.

Jan,

Incisive, as always.

I'll still be watching here. If we drop below $6.00
it will be hard not to buy back in providing S3 management shows they actually have a pulse.

I would think that this Asian crisis, especially Japan, will lead to liquidating American and Canadian held securites to convert to yen.
I don't know if that will have a positive or negative ripple effect in American/Canadian markets.

My heart goes out to those Japanese shareholders. They looked so frightened tonight on national news. Much crying into sushi over there right now all due to corruption nobody wanted to admit. I think they need the Healthtech hit squard we saw today on CNBC. They wouldn't blink in a sandstorm.

Thanks Jan.

Always onward,

George
