The CEO of Cabot Oil and Gas (COG) was briefly on CNBC this morning. They're primarily a gas company now. The company has apparently had excellent earnings in the past year and the CEO attributed that to the fact that they increased their success rate to 90%. That is, 90% of the wells had something and 10% were dry holes. He attributed the success rate to the use of new search technologies including 3D-seismic and other technologies. He said that this has allowed them to go back to locations which the big companies gave up on years ago and make new, productive finds. So it would appear that a new technology for locating these resources really can be the key to profitability.

Martin,

Agree that PR firms place barriers and perhaps less effective information to shareholders. Would prefer to have an organized PR dept within the company. I havn't seen such organization yet and appreciate that the company should be putting efforts into resource development and earnings and agree that this will be most important in moving stock price. I would, however, like to have someone in the company that is a bit more informed than those that I have spoken with to date, especially concerning financials of the company. Hopefully they will recognize the need to be more informed of details as the earnings begin to roll in.

Thanks to the response to the question re: the origin of the information on well #3.

Dear Martin:

Just spoke to IR just now. They read the release to me. Apparently, you are correct, good findings in the 3rd well.NAMX will be selling gas to KN ENERGY by the first week in December. The value for this stock at the present is quite ridiculuos. In my opinion, because of the tax sell off timing created great buying opportunity. Remember this stock was at .40 at one time this year with no potential revenue. This is only their third wells. What about He in June with UPR lands and with other large oil companies ? I don't need to advise any investor to hold on to their share. I am certain,Martin, this company is going to grow rapidly. It is just a matter of time some institutions, will take notice.
