Not gonna hurt Apple much. Just might slow sales down a bit, therefore forcing Apple to produce better.

Yes, the competition is good for Apple, and good for consumers. Though I don't think Apple needs any more motivation to be competitive. I think they are constantly striving to improve their products and customers' experiences with them. They're in competition with themselves.
