Re: CRM Reports Large Increase in Unbilled Deferred Revenue Non-GAAP reporting is a gimmick. So why complain that the cartoons don't look like the real thing. :) Differed revenue is a real thing. That's when you bill someone in advance of when the company delivers the goods. An example would be billing for 12 months of license or software maintenance service. Then the company sticks the non-earned portion into differed revenue and accrues it monthly as it's earned. Sticking un-billed stuff on the financial reports is good PR, but deviates from reality one step farther. The next step would be recognizing customers that are thinking of buying.
