Not a tax guru by any stretch, but I think your answer may be some CALL OPTIONS. The May 22.5's and 25's look quite nice.

Wash sale.

You can't switch to options because of the proviso, "substantially identical" securities. You can sell and wait 31 days, then buy back.
Or you can buy (double up), wait 31 days, then sell.

Alternately, and probably safer, you can put the money from cymi sale into another stock in the sector, say AMAT. If the sector runs again, cymi would probably lag until earnings report.

Is there any possibility that, due to the slowdown in Asia, some semiconductor manufacturers might continue to manufacturer with their older equipment and skip over .25 and go directly to smaller geometries at a later time? Is there a learning curve involved that makes it necessary to touch each base, technologically-speaking?
