5/25/12 Contest Update Although some investors were fazed by the Facebook fiasco and the looming Grexit, there were enough intrepid buyers out there to push stock indexes higher for the week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 18.15% YTD (vs. up 14.73% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 19.84% YTD (vs. up 15.33% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.92% YTD (vs. up 6.67% YTD a week ago). BIOJIM’s portfolio, up 46.07% YTD, moved back into the Contest lead, with DONS’ portfolio, up 44.66% YTD, dropping to second place and BIOMAV’s portfolio, up 37.96% YTD, taking over third place. At Friday's close, just 5 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the red and 17 of the 38 portfolios were beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. (Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in the weekly and YTD Top 5 & Bottom 5 tables, when posted.)
