Fellow Conservatives: Grassroots conservatives scored upset victories in Indiana and Nebraska last week. Now, the Washington establishment is scrambling to find a way to convince the public that these losses were not a rejection of their moderate policies. But, in private they're terrified a wave anti-establishment furor is set to sweep the country just like it did in the 2010 elections. I believe it is and we have another chance to prove it on Tuesday, May 29 when Texas Republicans go to the polls to choose their next GOP senatorial candidate. If David Dewhurst fails to get 50% of the vote and is forced into a run-off election against conservative Ted Cruz, it will be next to impossible for the Washington establishment to deny the national rebuke they're getting. If Dewhurst loses to Cruz in a runoff, that would make three straight Senate primaries where establishment Republicans end up losing to insurgents. Support Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate If you love this country and if you're tired of watching Republicans in Washington walk away from the fight and abandon our principles, then now is the time to support Ted Cruz. The stakes could not be higher. We absolutely must win this race. Ted Cruz is a principled conservative leader who understands that the purpose of the Constitution is to protect our freedoms by limiting the power of government. If elected, he will work each day to uphold his oath of office to support and defend the Constitution. But he won't win without our help. David Dewhurst and his aligned Super PAC are spending millions each week falsely attacking Ted Cruz. In fact, it was reported yesterday that Dewhurst has given his campaign another $6 million of his own money. In a story posted at RedState.com, Erick Erickson explains why Dewhurst and his allies are attacking Cruz. It's pretty simple – Dewhurst has been polling below 50% consistently despite having statewide name ID for over almost 15 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to throw around. And, he simply has no conservative record to run on. In fact, he would like people to ignore his record of proposed tax increases, higher spending and general incompetence as Lt. Governor. So, they are focusing on lies and distortions about Ted’s record. The lies are extraordinary and should be ignored. The biggest lie – and one that sadly gained some traction – is that Ted is a “trial lawyer” who represented a Chinese company against an American company, and thus harmed American manufacturing jobs. This is absurd. Ted is an appellate lawyer – as Dewhurst well knows because Ted was the Solicitor General for the State of Texas, often fighting for the people of Texas in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. But even more, Ted represented one side of a dispute between two businesses – and the guy Dewhurst claims is an American manufacturer moved his business to China years ago. These bogus attacks really hit home for me because my Republican opponents also tried to paint me as a China sympathizer when I first ran for the Senate. It's infuriating because Ted Cruz is the one candidate in this race who will stand up for policies that strengthen America and protect our nation's sovereignty. We cannot let David Dewhurst get away with these smears and buy this Senate seat. Our country is under attack from liberals who either don't understand the principles of freedom or don't appreciate them. If we're going to save it, we need a true fighter in the U.S. Senate from Texas. We don't need any more deal-makers who make decisions based on polls rather than principle. We already have too many deals in Washington. Our nation isn't $15 trillion dollars in debt because of gridlock. We under a mountain of debt because Democrats and, unfortunately, too many Republicans have agreed to spend money we don't have. Ted Cruz will stand up to this bipartisan spending spree. He has the courage to push back against the big spenders in both political parties, and that's exactly why the establishment wants him to lose. Please help Ted Cruz get across the finish line. There's just over a week to go in this race and now is the time for every American who values freedom to step up and make a contribution to his campaign.
