There will be a facebook search engine that incorporates their database. I'd bet on it.

Because Google has shown there is money to be made in search.

FB has maxxed out on its current ad model, and GM's abandonment of it last week is a damned significant crack in the business model; it takes time for advertisers to figure out whether the ad spending is paying off or not.

They are going to have to come up with something revolutionary or they're in trouble.

Pretty bold indictment there with a lot of absolute statements. I'm not a big Facebook user or even a huge fan but I do believe in the ability monetize the masses and Facebook will have to work 1/2 as hard to be twice as successful at this point and I fully expect them to be able to capitalize. I remember getting flamed for saying the same thing about Google a decade ago or so with the exact same arguments against them.

But if they aren't able to capitalize, bad on them.
