profits that alone make jobs possible

That's exactly true. The government cannot create jobs - beyond some redistribution. The best they can do is maintain the rule of law and enforce contracts - their core competencies. All the commotion since 2008 - bailouts of companies and financial institutions, QE's, clunkers, helping keep up house prices - is nothing but plain waste, and introduced additional layers of unpredictability, inhibiting investment. In addition to normal bear market and economic slowdown hardships, people need to worry about what's the next stupid trillion dollar project that will come down from Washington. Instead of assessing the markets and making investments, the biggest game in town becomes how to get a slice of the federal financial largesse.

Obama reveals himself as just another in a long line of liberals who claim they want more and better jobs, but can't bring themselves to endorse the profits that alone make jobs possible.

Obama's Mayor just shot Obama in the foot.
