There are plenty of Indian and Mideastern restaurants in Houston, but they tend to be run by Hindus or Christians. Not counting the convenience stores, about half of them are run by Pakistanis - not an exaggeration.

You're taking a typically American short term view of history. Thinking that just because something has "worked" for a few years then there's no problem.

First of of all, up until recently, half of all Arab immigrants to the US were Christians (fleeing the oppression of their Muslim neighbors)

That aside, check the overall history of the middle east. It use to be Christian. Egypt, for instance was 100 percent Christian. But then small numbers of Muslims came and gradually through immigration, violence, rape and institutional oppression destroyed the original culture. Same thing happened throughout the world, from Indonesia to India to Libya. It took a few centuries but the process was unstoppable. That's real history.

Of course, I'm sure when the first Muslims came to these countries people like you thought there was no problem. After all, look at all the nice restaurants!

And now the tensions in Europe from Muslim immigration has reached the boiling point too. We're still some years behind that curve fortunately.

Read your history and consider the long view,.
