Apple's iPhone 4, 5 Mpx chip was made by sensor vendor OmniVision, who now has a new chip we might see in the next iPhone. Wouldn't it be fun to take 4k video at 30 fps on an iPhone?

It's definitely a pipe dream, but for that last reason alone, it would be incredible if Apple would buy Nokia. They could certainly afford it.

Even with a 50% premium it would be $15B. Plus NOK has lots of cash and non-consumer division to spin off. Net cost maybe $5B? The patents alone could be worth more, and with about $600 million in licensing income, it's a no brainer.

Except... not sure Apple would be really good at integrating another large company into its culture. Few companies do this successfully. And it's a huge distraction when Apple is really firing on all cylinders and adjusting to post-Jobs. Why mess with success is a good counter argument.
