Thanks, KLP.

Matt is a friend of mine (we met on the conservative forum, FreeRepublic). You will not meet a more devoted patriot.

His trilogy, Enemies: Foreign and Domestic, is among the most powerful pieces of modern 'literature' you will read. I strongly recommend all three books (all of them are awesome, but the third one, The Reconquista, is a must read). I wish it (actually all three) could be required reading for every voting-age American. Amazon.com has some amazing reader reviews that portray just how well-received, and how visionary, all three books are.

Simplicity and KLP,

Interesting photos

See the picture of him in front of the border sign "You are leaving the American Sector" in English, French and Russian. That is looking East from West Berlin.
Another Berlin clue is the street sign on the corner that reads Friedrich Str. and Zimmer Str.
Checkpoint Charlie was on Friedrich Str. just a few yards East of that intersection.
You can see the East German/Soviet gun tower a little further down the street on the East (Soviet) side of the actual crossing.

What you don't see is the US MP shack in the middle of the road and the concrete block maze with iron gates that were let up and down for each vehicle. That was all erected later.

East coast SEALS back then were all SEAL Team II.
My unit ran the training course for selected SEAL II members, in Berlin, in that time period.
I was a Berlin A Team Leader at that time.

Tell him I said hi and that I took my team to train with Boink, Mabry, Gallagher, etc, etc, and the USS Threadfin in Souda Bay in spring of 72.
