From the full testimony link:

"Based on what I know so far, I believe there is a 40% risk of a worldwide recession that will last at least 12 months starting in January 2000, and it could be as severe as the 1973-74 global recession."

Not only had I read that previously, I've been sending copies to my family and friends.

Cheryl -

Tony Keyes, who wrote the article ... well, he & Ed Yardeni were both speaking in front of Senate Subcommittees the SAME day (Nov 4).

In the spirit of making sure the record is squeeky clean accurate... Tony testified to Rep Connie Morella's House Science & Technology sub-committee. Yardeni testified to Bennett's Senate Banking & Technology sub-committee.

The neat thing is that Capital Hill actually had 3 hearings on the same day... Morella & Bennett, plus Leach's "powerful" (so I'm told) House Banking committee.

Who knows... pretty soon Mr Technology himself, our noble Veep will catch wind of Y2K as an issue...?

- David
