Koan,
oh yes we've tried Keynesianism...at least the spending part. All deficit spending is a stimulus. We've had stimulus for 30 years or more. It's now starting to become unsustainable. Unfortunately for my generation and the ones that come after, we're going to be the recipients of this legacy of fiscal irresponsibility. The retired today are the last generation to live off the fat of everyone else. At least, I've made enough money that I don't need the gov't to take care of me. However, if I was young, I would be terribly pissed off. The old, rich and retired folks of today have adopted a scorched earth policy of leave no wealth behind. It's truly a sickening thing to see.

It's one reason I have urged both of my kids to learn Mandarin and to travel the world. These kids are going to need to be open to finding a job wherever around the world they are. There are no guarantees those jobs will be here in the US with the legacy being left to them.
