The current price already reflects the 4th quarter loss. This one will trade higher over the next several months due their new releases which will come out in FY 98, and the fact that they now have the cash & management focus to properly market their premium products. Fourth quarter appears to be tainted with some non-recurring charges, we'll see what they say in the conference call.

Additionally, the Company currently has liquid net worth on their books to support this type of valuation.

Was there a conference call that clarified the apparently poor fourth quarter results, the impact of the Virex sale (earnings lost vs. interest income on proceeds), the outlook going forward?

Barry,

From the October 10th press release:

<<WILMINGTON, Mass., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- DATAWATCH CORPORATION (Nasdaq:DWCH) announced today that it expects to report revenues in excess of $32 million for the fiscal year ended September 30, 1997. Revenues for the fourth fiscal quarter are expected to exceed $8 million, up from approximately $7.7 million in the same quarter a year ago, and up from $7.6 million in the third fiscal quarter.>>

I gathered from the lack of any mention of earnings with that statement that there would be a loss. Add to that the tendency for companies to get all the bad news over with before the beginning of a new year (hopefully a turnaround year) and I think most had already factored in this information in today's price. I would be curious to know how much of this loss was as a result of the "Mac" products.

With the money from the sale the book value should be in excess of $2.50. I hope the market doesn't take too long to realize the value here.

Good luck to all

Gary
