Secret ‘Kill List’ Proves a Test of Obama’s Principles and Will

As the article demonstrates, there is no "test", no moral qualms. Obama is for power for himself and his administration. Period, end of sentence. The whole left 'human rights' apparatus has censored itself for his sake, a few bleats from the libertarians aside.

When the power passes back to a Republican President, the screaming about fascism will begin again as if the Obama interlude had never happened. Wait and see.

Mr. Obama has placed himself at the helm of a top secret “nominations” process to designate terrorists for kill or capture, of which the capture part has become largely theoretical. He had vowed to align the fight against Al Qaeda with American values; the chart, introducing people whose deaths he might soon be asked to order, underscored just what a moral and legal conundrum this could be.

Mr. Obama is the liberal law professor who campaigned against the Iraq war and torture, and then insisted on approving every new name on an expanding “kill list,” poring over terrorist suspects’ biographies on what one official calls the macabre “baseball cards” of an unconventional war. When a rare opportunity for a drone strike at a top terrorist arises — but his family is with him — it is the president who has reserved to himself the final moral calculation.

That is one scary article.
I've said it here before.
We must never let the leader of the most powerful nation on earth personally control the most secret and most powerful military organization in the world. Apparently, we blew that one.

We are on very thin ice here. Blood lust comes from letting blood. Killing often thrives on killing. Habitual killers always find more targets worth killing. We have been seeing one example after another of leaders around the world ordering the killing of their own people to retain their own power.

According to the article the victims are selected for death by a committee personally led by POTUS.
There is no declaration of war, no due process, and it seems our death squads secretly attack and kill these folks in foreign countries that are not engaged in hostilities against us.

Where does the Constitution of The United States or the laws of our land provide for this killing?
The only objection in the White House seems to be the adjunct killing of civilians. Yet, according to our own laws they are all civilians.

We seem to be entering a whole new realm of world-wide killing by government. Who sends these names to Obama for final selection for death? Has American due process been reduced to a White House committee vote, with one man having final approval over each order to kill?

Are we so obsessed by grandma getting groped that we are missing much larger abuses of power?

The USA used to be the world's bridge over troubled waters and the last line of defense for oppressed people. What is happening?
