Carol,

I have been tele conferencing with my family for 2 years. I got into it while it was still pretty spendy. But, yes it does work and just for the expense of your internet connection. If anyone is interested, I can recommend a wonderful software program that is I feel the best on the market and I have tried them ALL. This product offers both talking and video and today it is very affordable. DOWNLOAD it at this address netspeak.com this will allow you to talk for 3 minutes at a time then cuts you off and you can call back much as you want. This will conference up to 4 people, has answering machine and many other features. The thing I like is the UPGRADES are free! Price of this software 50.00.

Best Video Card Winnov see at winnov.com this sells for about 100.00 NOW, after I got mine for 199.00 <G>. There is another one that a friend of mine uses and it is the ATI all in wonder card. It operates both Monitor and Video sells for about 275.00 or there of.

You will need a sound card and a microphone if you don't have one.

One thing to keep in mind is that you and the party you communicate with must use the same SOFTWARE package.
