Joe,

You stated that you don't believe these numbers and "PS: Oh Yeah, Ernst and Young do the numbers (heh, heh -- didn't they play some games with Informix too? Oh, gee I dunno, that's just some wild speculation and random mutterings on my part NASDAQ sneaks)."

I think you also once stated that Novell sucks because they don't know how to manage analysts' expectations and their numbers. Now, first time they do this and you come out and state that you don't believe them. Maybe they have started to learn how to do this and Schmidt may be numbers savvy (and not just a tech Java geek)! I know it's hard to believe this because of their past performance but this is a new CEO now with many new top management around him. Maybe he finally got on Tolonen's ass to do what a CFO is supposed to do in the first place.

As far as E&Y I guarantee you it would be pretty much the same results with any other Big Six(Four) firm (including mine). They are ALL pretty much the same when it comes to auditing SEC clients. I 've done my auditing time in another Big Whatever? firm and my brother in law works for E&Y....

Did you also notice the news release that went out shortly afterwards lowering expectations for the next quarter? I think they are on a roll numbers wise<g>.

What really surprised me was the education revenues. Even though becoming a MCSE is hot right now the premiums/bonuses offered for having a MCSE along with a CNE (of course with real world experience) is astounding! In a recent interview my wife had for a position requiring a MCSE the interviewer commented that having a CNE is critical because it really proves you know networking!!!! (of course with practical experience).

I am interested to see what Scott will post now.

I am one third through my journey with Novell and I will reevaluate at that time whether to sell or hold. In the meantime I do not intend to buy more at these levels...

Enjoy the ride

P.S. Any day now jr will join the family! Oh, you were absolutely right that CPAs are great, thanks<g>
