Hi Joe,

< I don't believe these numbers. >

From:

www1.newsalert.com

Novell executives said they were "fully geared" to bringing
down inventory levels to 45 days or less. Novell said earlier in announcing fiscal 1997 results that
it had reduced days sales outstanding to 79 days at the end of
October .....
______________________________________________________________________

Schmidt stated that inventory levels at the end of Q3 were "under 45 days". Now the company says they are at 79 days.

It looks like they stuffed the channel and still only came up with $269 million.

Let's see: 90 days + 79 days - 45 days = 269,000,000 total sales - 99,000,000 direct licensing = sell through (90 days) + stuffing (34 days)....... sell through = 123,000,000

Actual sell through revenue 123,000,000 + 99,000,000 = 222,000,000 or -.11 EPS

Salah was almost dead on the money.

Regards,

Don
