No, you are missing my point. The understanding of evolution vs creationism within our society is evolving. 46% believe in Creationism today. It was perhaps 86% 100 years ago. That is evolution in the correct direction IMHO. The disconnect is not growing... it has always been there. You are upset these religious people are not evolving faster. You may be right. I've never lived in a red state so I had never heard about creationism until about 5 years ago. I thought it was a new theory.
