We aren't growing out of it because work force participation is basically flat for eleven years along with wages yet growth of government and costs of services continued unabated even accelerating well beyond prior decades. Could part of it be we needed a real deep recession in the 2002-04 period after a nice two decade run but instead got the ownership society and massive military buildup so the rest is history?
