So there is an admission that a Republican President increased the debt. Obama continued the same policies as Bush did, which is pursue not the war but instead social programs to set right the ravages of war that Bush did to the economy. But Obama, unlike Bush, realized that these programs, whether it i s fighting two wars or setting right the economic fabric cannot be done without raising taxes. Congressional Republicans blocked that effort.

So who is responsible for the debt?
