Romney sees jump in voters who hold positive view of him

By Jonathan Easley - 06/04/12 09:30 AM ET
Mitt Romney is viewed favorably by 48 percent of voters in a new CNN-ORC poll, a huge jump for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Only 42 percent of voters in the poll have a negative view of Romney, who held only a 34 percent favorability rating in CNN's poll in February.
Romney still trails President Obama in favorability. Obama is at 56 percent positive and 42 negative in the CNN-ORC poll.

Your reply is very well-considered. Thank you for taking the time to respond to each point.

I can't say that I disagree with any points that you made. They're all valid. Where we do disagree, however, is in the degree to which they will be able to make a difference when confronted by the steamroller power of the now-entrenched greed and corruption of the current administration, and our leadership in general in D.C. It's a machine the power of which our Founders never envisioned, that power will not be relinquished without a fight, and the left gave up the idea of fighting fair a long time ago.

For example, regarding the potential for massive voter fraud, while several states are attempting to prevent that from occurring, our own Department of Justice has the will, the power, and the finances, to attempt to squelch those honest efforts (consider both Florida and Texas), and the mainstream media are shilling for the DOJ every step of the way.

The disaffected left that you mentioned, while expressing disappointment regarding some of Obama's policies (or lack of them), will be back in lock-step long before November. Where else are they going to go?

The popularity of 'The Amateur', while heartening, is hardly a sign that Romney can win big. Many a book has topped the best-seller list, simply because conservatives are readers (Liberty and Tyranny, Common Sense, and Going Rogue are three best-seller examples that topped the NYT list primarily because of conservative consumers. It cannot be assumed that their popularity created converts to the conservative cause).

You and I see the same encouraging signs regarding the outcome of this election. Where we differ is in our view of the degree and determination of the evil forces that are at work on the other side. I pray every day that optimism like yours is justified, and I will continue to do whatever is within my power to make you right. Eating my hat in this particular circumstance will be an indescribable pleasure!
