If you haven't seen evidence that crimes were committed, then that is de facto evidence that you have not been paying close attention. I have kept a close tabs on root causes of the crisis and all of the bankster actions that lead to the financial crisis. There were enough crimes committed under existing laws to put most of the CEOs behind bars. Instead, the only fish behind bars are the smallest of the small. You see, in this country, if you are rich enough, then you get away with murder. Literally. OJ Simpson taught us that. The financial statement fraud alone would have put them behind bars under the SOX laws. But anyway, when the Fed and Congress have your back because you donate with largess, then any crimes you commit can be retroactively erased. This is how things work in the USSR...excuse me, I meant USA.

BTW, I agree with you mostly that we don't need a whole lot of new laws. We solved the S&L crisis with vigorous prosecution of the criminals and winding down the insolvent financial institutions. This time around we've done neither. Indictments under Obama are at an all time low.

Having said all that. I do believe we need to bring back Glass-Steagall. So there are some laws that will need to be revisited.
