Yes, I agree about recordable DVD. But right now, millions of Americans have money to spend. I mean relatively a lot of money. And a DVD player would make a good gift, its under 400 dollars at some stores now. By the time the recordable DVD's come out, we would probably be in another upgrade cycle and they would sell the new ones.
But its hard to sell any DVD player now when you go into a Circuit City, one of the nations largest electronics retailers, and have the salesman tell you " hey, I'll sell you one if you like. But I wouldn't if I were you. We are coming out with something great next year and you should wait."
Or something really smart like "Why would you want to buy something that doesn't record."
Both of these have happened to me. Bottom line, instead of selling a heck of a lot more units, they are going to sell a lot less. And into the upgrade cycle so that by the time we get this format thing straightend out, the new recordable DVD's will be out, and off to the milky way we go. I hate to see a great business opportunity be missed for something as shortsighted as a few million dollars when you could have 10's of millions if they worked together, so I'll sit here and grouse.
