Cosmo If I were a Cadence salesman I would make a killing with this two paragraphs printed in big letters: >>On Friday, November 21st, the Ninth Circuit federal Court of Appeals declined to reconsider its decision in Cadence's appeal of the District Court's decision to deny a preliminary injunction against ArcCell product. Neither the District Court nor the Ninth Circuit Court decision places any restrictions on the sales and support of Aquarius family of place and route products. The case now returns to the District Court and Avant! will defend itself against Cadence's unfair attacks. So far the court has made no findings regarding Aquarius code. In March 1997 the District Court rejected Cadence's claim that Avant! had copied Cadence's place and route code. The only source code similarities identified by Cadence's experts were from old, low-level database, graphic and utility functions. To eliminate any further dispute about this low level code, Avant! removed it from its product and replaced it with code written in a clean room. This clean room was supervised by outside experts. This clean room code was later incorporated into Aquarius, a product which also has significant place and route technology advancements over ArcCell. << Any one buying any AVNT product after being aware of this is against a honest free enterprise system!
