Tax - I don't like managements capital allocation. They have spent their entire cash flow and then some to buy back shares at high prices. Now, the balance sheet looks in sorry shape, I bet they stop buying back their share snow to "conserve cash".

I think it is a bit early to buy this one, if one is so inclined.

TPX - I took my own advice and took a look at Jordan's (Berkshire Hathaway company :P) mattress lineup:

jordans.com

Within the foam mattress category, TPX is expensive. I wouldn't pay so much for mattress, but then I am cheap (see "Value Investor" :P)). There are cheap competing Jordan's mattresses and Sealy mattresses that are as expensive as Tempur Pedic. Jordan's does not list any other competitors mattresses in foam category.

Also it looks like TPX sells only foam mattresses:

jordans.com

This may be drawback if people are drawn to other mattress types. I know that springs are supposed to be "passe", but you never know where and how tastes go. If there is some new spring-based innovations Tempur Pedic may lose. There are also "natural", "eco", etc. mattresses where Tempur Pedic does not compete.

So just a bit of online scuttlebutt. :)

Talking about Scuttlebutting, yesterday I had a a meeting with a seller of vision systems for automation and manufacturing. Of what he tried to sell me I can tell that what we are using at the moment is way way more competitive and from knowing what they are doing, everyone else is at least 2 years behind.

The company name is CGNX (Cognex Corp) Unfortunately the price is not right at the moment, but for 20 - 25$ a share it would be a no-brainer for me.
