Michael Murphy has been wrong on IDTI for so many years, that you'd think by this time he would either bail or make triple sure that he had his opinion and facts right. The only thing I'm sure of at this point, is when I hear he's going to be on CNBC, I buy the heck out of IDTI...

I heard today through the rumor mill that Montgomery Securities made "luke warm" comments on IDTI. The buy side trader that I talked to said it was not enough to sell to his clients, but some of the guys might. Montgomery has been on the bid the last couple of days and the stock has been surprisingly strong. Strong means unchanged two days in a row with ALSC down below $6 and CY and ISSI both taking hits. Maybe we might run back to 13 in the next few days. On an aside, Smith Barney (who recomended the stock a few weeks ago) has been the most aggresive seller late in the day. It almost seems as if they have short who wants it marked lower every day. That is just my opinion of course.

JB,

I'd be very happy to see idti as the engine for acer's new product(s). You or Rob may be able to answer this question since I'm not really all that knoweldgeable about processor architecture, but is it possible that IDT's scaled down C6 is the next generation processor to run smart appliances? I interpreted Acer's press release to mean that the next wave of "smart appliances" will have the quasi functionality of a computer but be limited to what it exactly can do. It seems to me that IDT could and can produce such a chip that is powerful enough to run a small variety of common functions (ie banking at home, etc, etc, etc.) but just short of being an actual computer. And at an affordable price that the common people can afford-(ie not a luxury but a necessity!)

Am I making any sense with my comments?( I've been up since 4 am PST so my typing is starting to slur).

Let me know if I've hit the head of the nail with my hammer or if I just missed it and smashed a huge hole in the wall.

I'm just impatient with IDTI. Two years is a long time to wait.

I'm going to sleep now. Hopefully, I'll wake up to see IDT release a PR re: ACER!!!

JB,

Acer may only use IDTI for the short term.
Long term plans seem to indicate they want the whole enchilada?????

Acer plans to have an older-generation, 6-inch fab that will make commodity-level, logic ICs, one source close to the company said. In the future, however, Acer will upgrade the fab to produce 8-inch wafer, the source said.
