Somehow somewhere, I think Americans have lost our way. I feel like all of this has its root causes in something deeper Physically, It's deeper and not political ("Americans") its the species. No way evolution can adapt to the rapid changes. But we are the most socialist of all species. We have to be to exist one on top of each other the way we do. Our rush hour makes an ant farm look like libertarian chaos; millions of humans obeying 1000's of rules to move at super speeds within inches of each other. Trust; one breaks a single rule and you die. Whenever and wherever humans gather the first thing they do is form a government, to protect one from the other and lift all. It's our strength and why the species dominates the planet. Where the Neanderthal genes are strong, we run into problems. All those thing you rally against are human constructs, not God given rules. Governments, central banks, banks, laws, all the stuff that makes up modern human society is variable, constructed by fiat, and transitory. It's stuff we do to make it possible for billions of ornery creatures to live together with some level of fairness and a socialist ability to lift the most boats. On here we argue around the edges. Our DNA determines 99.9% of what we do every moment of the day.
