I think it is great that someone in the media is starting to grasp accrual accounting.

Unfortunately, it is just too damned late.

Liberal social programs have broken the country, and it is pretty damned difficult to see any path to fixing the fiscal problems. Liberals are incapable of understanding this regardless of their technical ability (I recently had a discussion with a liberal actuary who just could not grasp these issues. Seriously).

So, you have half the country who are liberals and 80% of the rest believe SS & Medicare WERE fiscally sound but the money was borrowed by the federal government and THAT is why the money is gone. This, of course, isn't the problem -- the problem is that the programs never made actuarial sense from the outset.

Anyway, I'm glad the media is starting to get it. Better late than never I guess.
