Re: BAK fixed?

It worked. Thank you!

Yes, BAK is a real ticker symbol. The company is a petrochemical outfit controlled by PBR which in turn is controlled by the Brazilian Government.

The only reason we use BAK is historical. We discuss all sorts of different companies and this diverse conversation would be a disruption to an active board focusing on a stock. More than 10 years ago we colonized the BAK board at Yahoo which at the time had nobody posting about anything. From site to site, you will find BAK boards pretty much empty because hardly anybody talks about the company. So we are fairly confident that if the site we are using goes down, there will be a site with an empty BAK board somewhere.

A search on 'BAK' has this board listed first even without the ticker, so people should be able to find the board.

Kollmhn, are you happy?

Re: BAK fixed?

BAK is the symbol for the Brakem Co. of Brazil (a plastics manufacturer) that is traded on the NYSE. Weasel et. alia suggested it way, way back when MCI aka WCON went into bk and Yahoo scrubbed the WCON site. We needed a place where we would not annoy too many real folks looking to comment on the stock. That is the hoary history of why BAK. We stayed on Yahoo till they became intolerable. I ran a LAMP server out of my basement with the url of www.vultureinvestor.com for a while before we finally went over to IV and now you.
