Felt great all around, given the circumstances. Two people could have been dead. Instead, they came out seemingly unscathed, everyone behaved as they should, and there really was not much to be gained from sticking around, being in the way, and no longer able to positively contribute. Thinking back on it, had we stuck around, the cops (that must have arrived after we left) would have had a lot of useless questions for us not to be able to answer, so yet another reason to just vanish into the dust and enjoy our family dinner. Glad we did that. :-)
