Check out this report on the K6-3D-300 at tomshardware.com

It runs 30% faster than a Pentium II-300 on a Socket 7 motherboard (cheaper). Also, I doubt Intel could ever build a P2 with its cartridge, extra cache chips and interconnections for as little as AMD can build a K6-3D. (The K6-3D has a much smaller die size than the K6 because of the 0.25 process.)
